NYU VANDERBILT HALL
With the renovation of 11,000 square feet, this facility now boasts faculty offices, reception, and support areas. The prototype design was developed to initiate a modernization program for the Law School's Vanderbilt Hall, which was constructed in 1949. The concept was to reconfigure the existing wide public corridors and utilize the space as reception and secretarial areas for perimeter offices. In an area of 2,000 square feet, KBA designed compact shelving for legal books to maximize the number of volumes stored. Other areas of the library were upgraded with extensive millwork.
